I hope everyoneβs December has been going peacefully, and you have been able to spend the month with loved ones.

I wanted to wrap up this year with a collection of drawings of my OC Kiyo. I have been using her to rebrand some of my business cards and promotional bags that you get when you purchase a print at cons (among other things)! I love drawing her, and I'll get a little more into her origin story in this newsletter.
Holiday Colours:β Last year, I created these seasonal illustrations for store orders. On a whim, I added a few to some of this year's store orders. Shout out to you if you got one of these! β Process Reel + OC Character Creation:β Kiyo came about as an idea while I was neck deep in my tattooing apprenticeship back in 2020. I love the idea of a female "patriarch" that is the leader of a modern Yakuza clan, something that would never exist in reality. Just thinking about the kind of personality she would have to dominate a male-only position and command the loyalty and service of her family really got my art brain going. On the surface she runs a "company business" but is actually a criminal lord(lady?) in the underworld. Needless to say, she is not entirely a morally good character. I've been fleshing her out over the last few years here and there, playing around with her aesthetic as I continue to develop her personality and world building. When I have spare time in between conventions, freelance, and personal responsibilities, I like to give Kiyo a bit of creative love. I hope you like her too! β What's Next:I put up my new Messmer print for like, a day, and a bunch of you grabbed one! I hope y'all enjoyed him before I closed the store. β I'm planning on working on the shop over most of January and I'll announce it when I reopen it again π I'll also be doing some streams here and there but not committing to a schedule.
