Hi newsletter friends! May was a pretty turbulent month for me, with some personal stuff happening and a reoccurring wrist injury that set me back a lot that I'm still dealing with. Really makes you realize to not take things you have for granted! On the positive side I've been productive artistically, completing some new Monster Hunter pins and exploring some new styles in my work. I was part of the may anime themed rotation at Mr. Surprise The Well, which I teased last time and now I'll share some photos of that down below⋆｡°✩

For the rotation, I designed some new packaging for my pins which I think streamlined my display. I also designed new Monster Hunter pins that I'm super happy about! Sometimes I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to colours and I went out of my usual muted palette for this. I'll share pictures next newsletter but I'm sure you'll catch it on my socials soon as well.

What else- I am trying some new brushes I've found! I've been doodling with them. I've also been working on some prints of an anime I've been really enjoying lately: Apothecary Diaries!

Mr. Surprise Rotation

Thank you to Mr. Surprise for asking me to be apart of this! This Mr. Surprise location was at The Well in downtown Toronto and thank you to everyone who bought something! I had so much fun with the display and everyone's work looked fantastic. This was my first time doing a consignment-type of engagement and it taught me a lot about preparing products for retail, displaying merch in a store setting, and seeing the differences between a convention customer vs a mall browsing one.

I can't gush enough about how much I love this show!! The writing, the characters, the mystery, the subtle romance...gosh. Apothecary Diaries has me hooked, and of course I can't resist my kryptonite- beautiful long haired men (well man). Who else is watching this!!! :)

Trying new things:

I recently discovered brushes by BigPearLiu, and their watercolor style brushes caught my eye on how realistic it depicted watercolor edges. I played around with the painting brushes in this Jinshi sketch. It actually makes me want to break out my watercolors for real.

It's getting into the height of convention season, so my output is slowing down as the work of logistics, planning, and travelling come creeping into my productive hours. Travelling really tires me out, who knew! I hope to have finished prints of these two cuties by the next newsletter!
